Calypso Louie visits fidel's workers' paradise
Cuba continues to cozy up to Muslim clerics - this time it's the Nation of Islam's own Minister Calypso Louie Farrakhan who's visiting Havana. Prensa Latina doesn't say if Minister Farrakhan will be traveling by Mothership.
Farrakhan says he plans on visiting those infamous medical students studying in Cuba.
As his first official activity, the religious leader will visit the Latin American School of Medicine where about 20,000 students from different countries are studying, including several US low-income youths unable to afford the universities in their country.
One of those students may well be Tallahassee's Amanda Mitchell who showed her love of basic Marxism when she said:
"I was like, 'Hey, here's this opportunity to go to medical school for free,' ” Mitchell says. She was accepted in October 2003 and made plans to head for Cuba.
He also plans other visits.
Farrakhan also plans to meet with relatives of the five anti-terrorist Cuban prisoners in the US, and members of the Henry Reeve Contingent, made up of Cuban doctors assisting other peoples in natural disaster situations.
The US Muslim leader will also tour an art instructors´ school, and meet Cuban athletes.
But no plans to visit the Ladies in White, Guillermo Farinas or Dr. Oscar Elias Biscet. Shame on you Minister Calypso Louie.
