Urgent SOS for the life of doctor Guillermo Fariñas Hernández

Wednesday, March 15, 2006   By: Juan Paxety

Urgent Plea

From Net For Cuba

"If God wants me to die, I will die. I will be a
Martyr for the Free information in the World"
Guillermo Fariñas Hernández

Taking into account the turn for the worst in the last few hours of the psychologist and Cuban independent journalist, director of Cubanacán Press and correspondent in Villa Clara of the Information Bridge Cuba-Miami Independent Press Bureau Guillermo Fariñas Hernández, and considering but foremost respecting his irrevocable decision to remain in his hunger strike and that of fluids until the last consequences; The The Information Bridge Cuba-Miami Independent Press Bureau, its correspondents in the island, the Executive Board abroad, and the Organization Net For Cuba International, launch an urgent and desperate SOS to the International Community as a last effort to save the life of this valiant Cuban human rights activist.

Guillermo Fariñas Hernández began the above mentioned hunger strike last January 31, in protest, demanding of the Cuban government to install free access to the Internet from his home.

As we all know, the Cuban Government forbids its citizens to have free access to the Internet, as part of the political censure imposed on its citizens for over four decades. In a letter addressed to Fidel Castro, doctor Fariñas has raised his voice, at the risk of loosing his life, demanding his inalienable right to access cyber space freely.

May this urgent SOS for the life of this valiant Cuban activist be heard and acted upon by all men and women of goodwill around the World. We cannot allow our brother Guillermo Fariñas Hernández to die due to the unyielding, insensibility and arrogance of the totalitarian Cuban government.
