Terri and Elian

A link between two of Florida's most infamous cases
The National Review has posted Judge James Whittemore's decision in the Terri Schiavo case. He decided that Terri's case has been sufficiently litigated in state court and denies federal injunctive relief. He points out the requirements for a moving party seeking federal injunctive relief - first among them that the moving party must have a substantial likelihood of succeeding on the merits. Then he goes on to point out:
The first of the four prerequisites to temporary injunctive relief is generally the most important. Gonzalez v. Reno, No. 00-110024-D, 2000WL381901 at *1 (11th Cir. 2000).
Reno is obviously former Attorney General Janet Reno. Who is Gonzalez? Why little Elian, of course.
Elain was snatched by Reno's thugs on Holy Saturday, 2000. We are now in Holy Week, 2005.
Update - William F. Buckley also finds similarities between Terri Schiavo and Elian Gonzalez.
